European Cruise: Barcelona, Spain Preview

Park in Barcelona

The hotel I stayed in while visiting Barcelona

Barcelona was a beautiful city; I am not much of a city girl, but there was a good balance of greenery/nature to the buildings. It also had a good atmosphere and it didn't stink! (France on the other hand did.) I really enjoyed everything about Barcelona, the food was pretty good and everything is pretty centrally located. I also liked how everyone rode mopeds. (I want a mint green moped now.) If I do get the chance to study abroad while in college, Barcelona would be at the top of my list.

Jumping for Joy

Here is a picture of dog, Murphy at the beach. This was the first time I took my dog to the beach. He absolutely loved it! He was so happy he started jumping up and down and I took a picture just in time. I love this picture of him because he looks so happy and free.

The Beach

Since I live in the South and it is pretty much warm year-round, I can visit the beach anytime! Even in January. I took some pictures today with my family and my dog. So look forward to some cute dog pictures later this week.

The Marsh

Hey guys! It has been a while since I last posted or taken pictures for that matter. Sorry these pictures are all of the same general area! I know, it's getting boring. I am going to work on taking some new pictures this weekend. Please share my blog with people you know; I will gladly do the same for you!

Trees and Harmony

In this photo, I was on the same hiking trip with my family that I was on in the last two photos.... On the hiking trip, my aunt was visiting from Houston, Texas and we had wanted to just get out of the house and do something. However, the hike did not go as planned. It was quite buggy outside and we had to pretty much run through what was supposed to be an enjoyable stroll to avoid getting attacked by swarms of bugs. It defintely made the "hike" interesting. Also, as you will you notice, in this particular picture, there is a tree trunk that is twisted in all different ways. I found it very interesting and had to get a quick picture of it.

Embracing the Past, Reaching for the Future

Yesterday while my family and I were hiking through the shell mounds by the marsh, we found this lovely photo spot. This tree that I found and the title of my blog post remind me of something I might learn in English class. The tree in my mind represents a person who has grown and with that has gained wisdom and knowledge. The tree is big at the bottom because it is familiar with its roots (i.e. where it came from), but as it stretches outward it is more small and fragile because it does not know what is in its near future. Like humans, we are more comfortable and familiar with things in the past and less comfortable with change, but sometimes we need to learn to let go in order to accept what is waiting in store for us in our lives.

Hiking in Sewee Shell Mound

My family and I went hiking today in Sewee Shell Mound and it made me realize how much I love South Carolina. The weather is beautiful here, the views are simply stunning, and it has an amazing history. For example, this is a Native American historical site. At the site above, Native Americans use to discard their oyster shells here forming what is today an oyster mound. You cannot very well see the oyster shells in this picture, however I have many more pictures coming! :)

Palmetto Island County Park

This is a picture I took during the summer while I was with my family. We took my dog to a local dog park and he absolutely loved it. I actually have a picture of him at the dog park already on my blog, if you recall it. This was a scene I passed on a hike through the park and I thought it was beautiful how the tree branch hung down low and of course, the marsh is always a stunning sight!

Shem Creek

I took this photo while I was enjoying dinner with my family and family friends at Vickery's. The sun was setting and I ran outside and took this picture as fast as I could. It was so beautiful. Unfortunately, I only had my phone with me, so the quality isn't great but it is still a pretty picture.

Trip to North Carolina

Here is another beautiful picture of North Carolina! On the trip, we went hiking and took photos, obviously, and we also went canoeing in a nearby lake I guess you would call it. It was probably more of a pond, but it was relaxing. And no, that is not the "pond" in the picture. :)

Linville Falls, NC

In this photo, my family and I were visiting in North Carolina. We stayed in a log cabin near Linville Falls. The leaves were so beautiful, it was hard not to take a picture every second of the day! I absolutely loved the area and I hope we can visit there again sometime soon.

Shem Creek and the Bridge

I also took this picture on the tenth anniversary of 9/11. I went to Shem Creek and took a few pictures of the marsh and local restaurants. I love this one!
